4x4 Wilderness & Extreme Nature

You wake up to nature and after breakfast we hike a last bit before heading back to our cars at Palmwag Concession. Now the journey continues with your own vehicle into the remote Kaokoveld and the real 4X4 OFFROAD ADVENTURE PART away from it all begins. You cross the unreal scenery, follow dry riverbeds and learn from Hannu how to drive 4x4 on gravel and sand and how to find your way in the nothingness. During your drive you keep an eye out for the rare desert elephants. Completely secluded, close to the Puros community, we reach our surreal accommodation and exclusive lodge for the next night (no camping!).

The 4x4 adventure continues and the road takes us first through the vastness of the sandy-stony Kaokoveld before we reach the Hoarusib River. We follow the course of the river and approach the Skeleton Coast Conservation Area. To protect nature and wildlife, this area can only be entered with a special permit, and only with an escort. We have the exceptional permission here to follow the escort in our own vehicles into the Skeleton Coast Conservation Area, which stretches inland along the coasts. Here we arrive at the incomparable Shipwreck Lodge, the only - highly exceptional and exclusive - lodge on the Skeleton Coast. The lodge is built almost entirely of wood in the style of shipwrecks and is situated behind the dunes a little away from the Atlantic Ocean, where the sun sets later. You spend a second night in a dreamlike lodge (no camping!).

Today we continue by private vehicle through the Skeleton Coast along the coastline and up to Mowe Bay. Here the reserve ends and we say goodbye to the escort. The road now leads us further southeast inland into the northern part of the reddish, rugged stone desert of Damaraland. Our campsite is tucked away amongst the rocks, which you climb up for sunset and enjoy the rest of the day in this magical setting.

Leaving the barren, rocky Kaokoveld and northern Damaraland behind us, we continue through beautiful Daramaland. Before we reach the vast plains of the Namib Desert, we catch sight of the Brandberg Mountains and the Spitzkoppe, a gigantic granite monolith. In the afternoon you explore the breathtaking scenery on a hike with Hannu.

Today we start the last DESERT PART of your adventure round trip through Namibia. We drive from Spitzkoppe over the Plains towards the Namib Desert. Our destination is the Sesriem Gate, the gateway to Soussusvlei and one of the oldest deserts in the world. Along the way you will stop with Hannu and do a short hike. Finally, you will reach your campsite at the gates of the Namib Naukluft National Park and get in the mood for tomorrow's highlight around the campfire.

At sunrise you set off on a drive into the sand, into the Namib Desert and to Sossusvlei. Here Hannu takes you on a desert hike, you can climb the gigantic dunes and enjoy the view of Dead Vlei on the way down - Namibia's No. 1 postcard motif. During the midday heat you spend time in the shade before Hannu introduces you to the secrets of the desert in the afternoon. You can also look forward to cooling off in the pool at your campsite.
