Traveling to Africa with Three Generations

Why Tanzania and Kenya are Perfect Family Destinations

As a native of Cologne who has lived in South Africa with my family for years, I have experienced many family trips – but trips with three generations are something very special to me.
Here, the shared experience of children, parents, and grandparents becomes an unforgettable gift.Tanzania and Kenya are among the best places to organize this special journey. Both countries offer a perfect mix of comfort, adventure, and relaxation – ideal for satisfying all generations.

WEIGHT & LUGGAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Only soft cases or duffle bags are permitted – without frames or rigid structures. Hard cases do not fit into the small storage space of the aircraft and must be left behind.

Light aircraft (like all aircraft) have a limited load capacity (maximum take-off weight). The weight of the travellers is just as important as the weight of the entire luggage (including hand luggage and camera bags).

I therefore have to ask for your weight at the time of booking and pass it on to the shuttle flight operator in advance for planning the flight and seat occupancy. This also results in a restricted baggage limit (usually 20 kg per person). I can book additional baggage for you in advance. However, the surcharge is often the price of an additional seat.

Why Tanzania & Kenya are Ideal for Multi-generational Travel

Private safari vehicles for maximum flexibility

When three generations travel together, it’s important that everyone finds their own rhythm. Private safari vehicles allow you to set your own pace, take breaks, or have a more relaxed day – making the safari more comfortable for all.

Comfortable, small lodges with personal service

Tanzania and Kenya offer a wide range of charming, family-friendly lodges that cater to the needs of young and old. Whether private rooms or family suites, all with plenty of space, private terraces, and excellent cuisine.

Safari for every age

Whether the little ones, teenagers, parents, or grandparents – safari works here for everyone. The drives are not strenuous, often relaxed, and the guides explain everything so that everyone can follow. Nature here creates moments that connect generations.

Beach extension as the perfect addition

After days full of exciting wildlife viewing, relaxing by the sea simply feels good. Zanzibar (for Tanzania) or Diani Beach (for Kenya) are dreamlike places to unwind together, swim, or simply let your soul dangle. For children, there are shallow beaches; for grandparents, peace and comfort.

Why I Love Multigenerational Travel So Much

From personal experience, I know how special it is when three generations travel together: a depth arises that is hard to describe. Shared meals, experiences in nature, conversations across generations – these are the memories that last a lifetime.
