Hannu is a child of Africa. Born and raised in the Kalahari, he studied geology at Stellenbosch University. For more than 20 years he has been travelling across Southern and Eastern Africa as a guide, studying the cultures of the African peoples – and the psychology of the people.

As a trained safari ranger and trail guide, he is familiar with the wilderness of Africa down to the last detail and shares his experiences with our group. His passion lies in seeking a balance between people and nature.

“I have made it my life’s work to bring the real Africa closer to those who visit our special continent. I have the great privilege of living between worlds: traditional Africa and the modern world, from rhythmic drumming to mobile internet. In my own way, I try to explain the other world to one world and at the same time understand both worlds better myself. On a journey with me, I try to bring Africa closer to your heart, without embellishments – just Africa through the eyes of an African.”
